OKAY. GOOD MORNING. WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD AND CALL THIS MEETING TO ORDER ON THE 21ST DAY OF JUNE 2022 AT 9 A.M..

[Call Meeting to Order]

JOE, YOU WANT TO DO THE INVOCATION FOR US THIS MORNING? YES, SIR. I WILL.

FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.

FATHERS ONCE AGAIN THAT THIS WEAK AND HUMBLE SERVANT IS STANDING HERE WITH MY MIND STEAD ON YOU.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR ALL THE MANY BLESSINGS THAT YOU HAVE BESTOWED UPON US ALL.

LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR OUR GOING OUT AND OUR COMING IN.

AND, LORD, I JUST LIKE TO ASK A VERY SPECIAL MESSAGE THIS MORNING, IF YOU WOULD.

PLEASE, PLEASE, LORD, SEND US A RAIN.

SEND US SOME RAIN. WE NEED IT VERY BAD.

BUT, LORD, WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOD ALMIGHTY AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING BUT FAIL.

THESE IN ALL BLESSINGS I ASK IN JESUS NAME.

AMEN. AMEN.

ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS.

[Announcements]

I KNOW THIS WILL PROBABLY BE ITERATED FOR MORE TIMES, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY CONDOLENCES OF THE FAMILIES OF THE TWO FIREFIGHTERS THAT WERE TRAGICALLY KILLED YESTERDAY IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT HERE IN LOCKHART FROM MAXWELL.

IT'S A IT'S NEVER A GOOD DAY WHEN THOSE THINGS OCCUR.

AND I JUST WANT TO EXPRESS MY CONDOLENCES TO THEIR FAMILY ON BEHALF OF ON BEHALF OF MY FAMILY AND THE COUNTY AS A WHOLE.

AND IN ADDITION TO THAT, I JUST ASK THE PUBLIC, WE'RE WE'RE BEGGING YOU, PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO LET ACCIDENTAL FIRES GET OUT OF HAND, BECAUSE IT'S IT'S BEEN A ROUGH WEEK.

THAT'S ALL I HAVE. I'D ALSO LIKE TO ECHO COMMISSIONER WESTMORELAND, AND I'D LIKE THAT WE TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR THE FAMILIES.

GREAT. JUST REITERATE THOSE REMARKS.

TRAGIC, TRAGIC LOSS YESTERDAY AND.

IF SIZED THAT.

FOLKS, BE CAREFUL.

DON'T BURN LIKE FIREWORKS AND KEEP THESE BOYS OFF THE ROAD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE OR THAT THEY HAVE TO BE OUT FIGHTING THESE FIRES.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO REPORT THAT WE HAD A BUMPER YEAR THIS YEAR.

IT WAS OVER 1000 PEOPLE.

OH, WOW.

LONG ROADS 40.

SEE. ALSO LAST NIGHT I PUT A POST TO PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T.

AND THIS IS REALLY THE FIRST TIME THAT.

YES, SIR. SAYING WE HAD FIVE FIRES YESTERDAY, ALL OF WHICH WERE CAUSED BY OUTDOOR BURNING.

AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN AROUND TO THE HOLIDAY YET.

WE LOST A COUPLE OF FIREFIGHTERS YESTERDAY, TRAGICALLY, AND I'M EVEN MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THEM UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES WITH TEMPERATURES OVER 100 DEGREES.

IF YOU DECIDE YOU'RE GOING TO BURN A LITTLE PILE OF CARDBOARD AND THINK NO BIG DEAL, WELL, IT IS A BIG DEAL.

THAT'S WHAT STARTED ONE OF THE FIRES YESTERDAY WAS BURNING A CARDBOARD BOX, SOMETHING AS SMALL AS THAT CAN CAUSE A LOT OF TRAGEDY.

SO PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BURN OUTSIDE, PERIOD, FOR ANY REASON.

EVEN IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT LIGHTING YOUR BARBECUE PIT, THINK TWICE.

IT IS A TINDERBOX OUT THERE, FOLKS.

AND IF WE'VE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR AND THAT OUR FIRST RESPONDERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTAIN THESE TO JUST A FEW ACRES, BUT IF WE GET IT, ONE GOING ON A WINDY DAY, IT'S NOT GOING TO BE GOOD.

WE'RE ONE APPARATUS DOWN RIGHT NOW DUE TO THE WRECK.

AND AND WE'RE ALWAYS SHORTHANDED.

THESE FOLKS ALL HAVE JOBS IN ADDITION TO THEIR FIREFIGHTER DUTIES AND FAMILIES.

AND SO WHEN YOU I THINK RIGHT NOW I WOULD DESCRIBE IT AS A SELFISH ACT.

[00:05:02]

IF YOU BURN SOMETHING OUTSIDE, YOU KNOW, YOU WANT TO BURN YOUR YOUR PILE OF BRUSH AND RISK LIVES.

I THINK THAT'S SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE SHOULD THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT BEFORE THEY DO IT.

AND WITH THAT, I AGREE WITH COMMISSIONER SHELTON.

I THINK WE OUGHT TO HAVE A BRIEF MOMENT OF SILENCE.

OKAY. ALL RIGHT.
