AS YOU ALL KNOW, THE COMBINATION OF HURRICANE BERYL AND SOME SEVERE STORMS. AND AS A RESULT, THE TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE WAS AWARDED BY THE HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, HUD, AND ALLOCATED $550 $2.6 MILLION FOR THE FOR THE PROGRAM. THE TEXAS GLO IS THEN ALLOCATED $24 MILLION FOR THE HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, WHICH IS REPAIR AND RECONSTRUCTION, AND $20 SORRY, $43 MILLION FOR THE HOUSING REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM. CALDWELL COUNTY IS LOCATED IN WHAT WE CALL ZONE 4. ZONE 4 INCLUDES CALDWELL, HAYS, AND GUADALUPE COUNTY, AS WELL AS BELL COUNTY AND BELTON. THE STORMS THAT WERE DIRECTLY TIED TO THIS PARTICULAR DISASTER WERE THE STRONG WINDS AND THE HAIL DAMAGE IN SAN MARCOS AND DRIPPING SPRINGS AND THEN THE WIDESPREAD WIND AND TORNADO DAMAGE AND FLOODING FOR ALL OF THESE. AS A RESULT, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, THE HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM RECEIVED $244 MILLION DOLLARS AND IT'S TIED FOR REPAIR OR RECONSTRUCTION FOR DAMAGES THAT ARE DIRECTLY TIED TO THE STORMS. REPAIR AND RECONSTRUCTION CAN INCLUDE COMPLIANCE WITH MINIMUM ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS, STORM READY ROOFING, ENERGY EFFICIENCY APPLIANCES, ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCES IN ADDITION TO OVERALL REPAIR AND RECONSTRUCTION AS NECESSARY. QUALIFYING APPLICANTS, SOME OF THEM MAY RECEIVE A YEAR OF APPLICABLE HOME INSURANCE BECAUSE INSURANCE RATES DO GO UP SOMETIMES WHEN WE REPAIR THESE HOMES OR RECONSTRUCT THEM.
